Job Posting: CEO Wanted

A man shows up in the lobby of a major national company, which has $500 billion in sales and 50,000 employees across 40 states, and asked for Human Resources.  The man is here to apply for the vacant position of Chief Executive Officer.   The guard in the lobby points the man to the bank of evelators to the right, and tells the man to proceed to the 40th floor.  The man thanks the guard and heads for the 40th floor.

Upon arriving at the Human Resources office, the man enters and tells the woman that he is there to apply for the position of CEO.  The woman behind the desk looks the man up and down, and asks him how he heard about the position.  The man states that he was watching television, specifically CNBC and heard that the company was looking to hire a new CEO.  He then proceeded to make his way to office today to apply and hopefully interview for the position.  The woman asked the man to have a seat, and she would see if the head of HR was available to speak to the man.  The man thanked her and proceeded to sit down and wait.

After a few minutes, the woman returned and told the man that Mr. Smith, Head of HR would speak with the gentleman in a few minutes, Mr. Smith was just finishing up a conference call at this moment.  The man thanked the woman and sit back down and waited for Mr. Smith.  After a few more moments, Mr. Smith emerged from his corner office and introduced himself to the gentleman and asked the man to follow him to his office.  The man rose and followed Mr. Smith to his office.

Once in Mr. Smith's office, Mr. Smith asked the man to have a sit in one of the chairs in front of Mr. Smith's desk.  Mr. Smith sat behind his desk and asked the man for a brief history of the things his had run or managed in his career.  The man proceeded to speak to Mr. Smith in very vague and flowery statements and sentences.  After ten minutes of listening to the man, Mr. Smith abruptly asked the man to stop and stated to the man, I love the way to you speak and I am actually moved by all that you have stated; but, I did not hear anything about running or managing a business, a club or anything.

The man again stated that while he has not actually managed or run anything, he still feels that he is qualified to run the company because he has the ability to speak in great and moving ways.  Mr. Smith thanked the man for coming in, and then stated that the company would be foolish to hire a person who has no practical experience in managing or running a business.  The man looked at Mr. Smith in a dumbfounded manner and stated that the Democratic party in the US is in the process of nominating one of two candidates to represent them in a general national election for President of the United States and neither one of their candidates has any experience running anything other than their mouths.
