The Palin Effect

There has been a definite impact on this campaign with the pick of Sarah Palin by Sen. McCain. I seen a little more vigor in the McCain people that I know. People are definitely more enthused about this election than before. Whether Palin puts McCain other the top or not, remains to be seen. In any case, the Republicans have rallied around this ticket more so than before. There are now voter registration drives at various locations around the county . Prior to the Palin choice, one would only the Obama people at these locations. Finally, the back to school folks are reporting that they are seeing more and more parents looking for the McCain - Palin information. As I stated in a previous post, the next 60 days are going to be fun and exciting.

Now that the conventions are over and the candidates have all accepted their party's nominations, the real fun is set to begin. The Democrats have positioned themselves as the slate that represents change for the country. The Republicans, on the other hand have put forth the mantra of "Country First". Which of these slates has the message that America is thirsting for remains to be seen.

The biggest issue in this race to me is the lack of experience that exists on the Democratic side and the for the Republicans the concern is their lack of specifics on how they plan to continue to move this country forward in this environment. These are questions that each party is going to have to address over the next sixty days if they want to secure the vote of the American people. It will be an interesting two months to say the least.

Did Palin really cut Special Needs funding?

There are reports circulating around the MSM and the left leaning sources that Gov. Palin cut special needs funding by 62% in contrast to her statement of supporting special needs in her speech.  It is now time to set the record straight on this issue.

The Weekly Standard has a short piece on this misinformation by the left leaning sources and the MSM.  An article in the publication Education Week actually states that Gov. Palin increased Special Needs funding in Alaska schools over the next five years, as of the article date.

Take heed to what you hear from the MSM and the left leaning sources out there.  Truth is not always their first thought nor their guiding principle. 

Sarah Palin hits a homerun with Speech

If you listen real closely, all that silence and breathing that you hear is the Democrats trying to figure out what just hit them.  They are stunned that Ms. Palin was able to deliver a rousing and impassioned speech last night.  She was able to methodically pick apart the facade of Barack Obama.  She left no stone unturned.  Now, prepare yourself for the Dems trying to hit back with how she did not speak to the issues and did not discuss policy.  There are two things to remember, first she is the Vice Presidential candidate and not the presidential candidate.  Secondly, the Dems and the Media engaged in an all out assault upon this woman, her family and their values and they are now complaining because she had the gall to decide to respond to their attacks with an all out assault of her own.

The thing that I find interesting is the attacks from the likes of Gloria Steinem.  If your cause is the advancement of women's rights and the breaking of the glass ceiling, would not you feel some sense of pride and accomplishment that a women has been selected to run as a VP candidate, all politics aside?  Not if you are a liberal in this country.  Sarah Palin represents all that Ms. Steinem and her cadre having fighting for and saying all along.  Ms. Palin is a mother and a career woman.  The women's rights movement have been demanding for years that women be afforded that same opportunities as their male counterparts. Now they have someone who has actually managed to accomplish having both a family and a successful career, and how do they treat and respond to Ms. Palin, they attack and demean her accomplishments and her family.  I guess when Ms. Steinem is talking about equal rights for women, she means only for those women who happen to agree with her politics.

Should Barack Obama consider offering Hillary Clinton the Vice Presidential slot if he becomes the nominee?  My answer is no.  This campaign has shown the American people the lengths that the Clintons will and would go to in order to secure a victory.  From Bill Clinton claiming that Obama played the race card on him to Hillary blatantly misstating the situation doing her Bosnia trip back in the nineties.  Obama would be well advised to stand clear of the Clintons because they cannot be trusted at all.  The Clintons are not interested in what is best for this country, no these people are only interested in what is best for them.  Please understand that I personally would not vote for either these people.  Neither of them are qualified to run a lemonade stand let alone this country.
